Sharlynn E. Bobo Director
Sharlynn E. Bobo, PhD, joined the Child and Family Services Agency in June 2002, as deputy director for Licensing and Monitoring. In December of 2005, she transitioned to her current position as deputy director, Organizational Development and Practice Improvement. While directing Licensing and Monitoring, Bobo was responsible for the licensing and monitoring of all District-based youth residential facilities, independent living programs, foster homes, and private child placement agencies. As the deputy director for ODPI, she oversees data collection and analysis and development of practice guidelines to improve CFSA achievement of qualitative standards. She also spearheads provider performance improvement strategies associated with CFSAs performance-based contracting initiatives.
Bobo holds a doctorate in social work (PhD) and Master of Social Work (MSW) from Howard University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology/psychology from George Washington University. During her 31-year career in social programs, she has acquired extensive management experience in both the nonprofit and profit sectors. Bobo has developed and overseen programs and services in child welfare, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse treatment and prevention, mental health, childcare, education, correction, and employment training. She is also a professor of social work on the graduate school level.
Bobo is active in local and national child welfare organizations including the National Association of Black Social Workers, National Association of Social Workers and Council on Social Work Education. She has served as a board member for various organizations, including Black Administrators in Child Welfare, Consortium for Child Welfare, Consortium for Youth Services and Washington Behavioral Health Care. |
