Partners for Kids in Care Operating Status During COVID-19 Partial Telework Period
The Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) building is currently closed to the public. During this holiday season, mail-in donations are being accepted to help provide children and youth in care with gifts. Please contact Beatrice Williar at [email protected] to coordinate mailing.
Donations from the DC community allow CFSA Partners for Kids in Care to provide much-needed items and enriching experiences to children and youth in foster care and at-risk families in the child welfare system. One hundred percent of every gift goes to a child, teen, or family CFSA is assisting. The meaningful extras that caring donors provide make a real difference in the life of a young person or family and usually cannot be provided with public funds.
Giving opportunities are open to individuals, families, community groups, businesses and other organizations. One of the suggestions below may be just right for you. Click here to learn more about Partners for Kids in Care.

Help children and youth enjoy special times of the year. In the spring, donate new or gently-used formalwear so teens in foster care can dress up for prom and graduation events. In late summer, your gift of school supplies helps kids in care get ready to learn—or equip an older youth for college with a computer, linens, and other necessities. Food baskets for families, toys, electronics, and gift cards are welcome in time for the winter holidays.
The DC Chapter of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators is collecting money and gift cards for the 2020 holiday season at dcnfbpa.org/donate.
Children’s Donation Center
Children, teens, and families shop this “free store” on site at CFSA year-round. Your donation of luggage and toiletries helps to smooth a difficult transition for children entering foster care. Families will make good use of your gift of new or gently-used clothing, infant supplies, sleeping bags, bed and bath linens, books, games and toys.
Volunteer your time as a mentor and give a child or teen a life-changing experience. Fund the growth opportunity of participation in a team, club or special lessons. Help an older youth in foster care learn about the world of work through an internship with your company.
Sponsor an educational or recreational activity for children or teens in foster care. Provide tickets to plays, concerts, movies, or sports events. Open your museum, workshop, office, or other venue for a field trip. Generous local businesses have organized arts and crafts projects, dinners, and parties where District children and youth in foster care had loads of fun.
Thank you, DC, for showing our kids in care that their community cares.
