AI - Financial Support to Youth in Care Who are Not in a Legal Placement

Monday, October 27, 2025
Reference:
POLICY

Youth in foster care benefit from a monthly personal allowance and financial literacy support to promote normalcy and build self-sufficiency skills. While this support is currently provided to youth in legal placements, youth who are legally committed to CFSA but not in a legal placement remain the Agency’s responsibility and require continued financial support. To meet their needs, CFSA provides a monthly stipend to help cover basic necessities, as these youth do not benefit from provider-funded care. This approach ensures these youth receive equitable support while promoting financial literacy and self-sufficiency as they transition to adulthood.
