The Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) administers the Grandparent Caregivers Program (GCP), which provides a monthly subsidy to eligible District of Columbia residents with low incomes who are raising their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great nieces, or great nephews. Grandparent caregivers use this monetary support to offset the costs of caring for relative children residing with them in the District who might otherwise end up in the foster care system.
