POLICY
Federal law requires CFSA to exercise due diligence to provide notice to the adult relatives of a child who is removed from the custody of their parent(s), within 30 days of the removal. CFSA conducts a diligent search to attempt to identify and locate missing parent(s), notify them that their child is in CFSA’s custody, and to determine whether the missing parent is able to appropriately care for the child. Please note that the business process for conducting a diligent search is also included here to provide social workers with additional, detailed procedural guidelines.
